Welcome to the Ikwambe Foundation, where we believe in the transformative power of clean water. Our mission began in the heart of Tanzania, in the village of Ikwambe, where the absence of a clean water source was a daily challenge for its resilient inhabitants.
Driven by the conviction that every individual deserves access to this fundamental resource, we embarked on our inaugural project: the construction of a water pump. After years of funding and closely working together with the local community, we have finally achieved our goal: ensuring sustainable access to clean water for the community.
Â
However, we are not done!
Â
There are so many more ways we can help local communities further develop their quality of life. We asked the villagers of Ikwambe what they need next and they responded:
Â
A nursery school for the young children
Â
By creating a nursery for the children of Ikwambe, women will be able to focus more on their career or even get an education. Furthermore, the children will also receive an early education as well instead of staying at home. Thus, our next project has begun.
Â
At the Ikwambe Foundation, we invite you to join us in our journey to improve quality of life in underdeveloped regions all over the world, starting in the remote village of Ikwambe in Tanzania. Together, let’s build a future where no one is left thirsting for the most basic of necessities.
In Ikwambe, there are limited options for women with children to have a career or follow an education. Besides having to take care of the household and preparing meals, the mothers of young children in Ikwambe also have to take care of these children. This leaves little time for other ventures. By having a career, and therefore more income, these mothers can better support their young ones and ensure a brighter future for themselves and their children. Having an early education will also further help these children to receive additional education when they are older.
Â
Within this project’s framework, we plan to create a strategy to provide women and children with work and school in their added free time, seeing as many of the women and children don’t get the opportunity to get an education.
In order to make this project sustainable, villagers should be involved in the WHOLE PROCESS!
Participation in the decisions and the PHYSICAL CONSTRUCTION
WORKS! This way we ensure a sense of ownership for the villagers.
Initial designs made of the nursery by a local Tanzanian engineer, estimate the costs of the project around 100 million TZS, or 35.000 euros.
Women and children will receive a lot of free time after a water pump installation. It is necessary to organize a process of education to keep them busy.
One of the ideas is to build a library from the books people want to donate.
Constant development is necessary to build a healthy society in Ikwambe and move to the next village.
